Sarajevo, which constituted one of the important legs of our Balkans trip, fascinated us. We left Dubronik and arrived in Sarajevo via Mostar and on the way we were mesmerized by lakes, rivers and forests with every nuance of green and turquoise.
Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has an atmosphere that makes us feel like we are in Turkey. People are friendly. People here like to eat meat like in our Anatolia. It is possible to see lamb rotisserie in every corner. In a mountain restaurant that caught my eye on the way, they were cooking 12 lambs side by side in the embers.
We had our lamb roast in a small place in the center of Sarajevo. In general, what caught our eye on our trip to the Balkans was that most of the kebabs, lamb rotisserie or stove heads were entrusted to ladies. Service. I think bravo; they do their job as well as the male masters.
Prices are not inflated with more branding efforts and taste is at the forefront. It is very affordable even compared to Turkey. Portions are usually in kilograms… Plenty of scoops, and the flavor is great. A little oregano, a little pepper flakes, a fresh pita, what else would you want?
Rotisserie lamb is a delicacy that you should definitely plan for in Bosnia and Herzegovina or in the Balkans in general.
Highly recommended
