The Sfogliatelle is a pastry tali in the vicinity of Naples. This product, which is made of dough consisting of a kind of oily layers, is famous for its cone-shaped form. Its Cone Shaped Dough is filled with Ricotta (a kind of soft Cheese) flavored with the aroma of Cinnamon and Orange blossom before entering the oven.
In addition to its special form in the cone shape, the image created by the fat layers while cooking is also very special, this image is completely different from the Crossant, and different techniques are used in the preparation of Sfogliatelle for this special image.
After the sfogliatelle is cooked, it is sprinkled with icing sugar and eaten hot with an Espresso (small Italian Coffee).
Outside of Italy, it is also possible to find Sfogliatelle with vanilla or different cream fillings. Those prepared in this way are usually called Aragosta, or lobster.
In addition, there is another variety of Naples Sfogliatelle called Frolla, which has a slightly more reminiscent appearance of our cheese pastry.
Pintauro
Pintauro is a bakery in Naples that has been in service for more than 100 years. We visited this place on our Naples trip. The biggest difference of the Sfogliatelles we ate here was that they were fresh from the oven, that is, they were hot. Although they were made in the form of a traditional cone, the air made by hand in the shapes would positively distinguish the product from the industrially made products. In the filler inside, there were dry fruits next to the ricotta, but most importantly, the aroma of Orange blossom in it made that wonderful taste complete.
