Mozzarella

Mozzarella cheese is a type of cheese that is known worldwide. Cheese is usually served sliced. The word Mozzare means “to cut” in Italian.

Mozzarella cheese is usually white as long as it is fresh. However, it may turn yellow depending on the animal or freshness of the milk used. Mozzarella cheese is a semi-soft cheese due to its high fat content. For this reason, it is especially traditionally served day by day. However, it can be kept up to 1 week as brine. Today, this period can be extended with the help of vacuum bags. In addition, low-fat mozzarella cheese can be kept for up to 1 month. However, with the contributions in it, this period can be extended much longer. Low-fat cheeses are also sold in this context with an expiration date of 6 months. Mozzarella cheese can be consumed with sliced tomatoes and basil, as well as in foods such as pizza and lasagna.

Mozzarella varieties

Mozzarella di Bufala: Made from buffalo milk. This type of mozzarella is sold in Europe under the name “mozzarella di buffala campana”.

Mozzarella Fior di Latte: Made from pasteurized or daily cow’s milk.

Low-Fat Mozzarella: It is obtained especially from fattened cheeses. This species is mainly used in the catering industry.
