Uzun Çarşı
Uzun ÇarşıEven today, it is an important center where the people of Antioch come together. The history of Uzun Çarşı, which we can think of as a similar to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, is as old as the city. You can see the execution of all kinds of professions from traditional Antakya handicraftsmanship to food, clothing, tin workmanship here. While the Long Bazaar continues until the Municipality Square where the Atatürk Statue is located, it forms an integrity with many streets to which it is connected. Because each side street and avenue is divided into a different occupational group. With this division of labor, which reminds of the guild organization of the Ottoman period, visitors can leave the shoemakers’ bazaar and enter the handicraft bazaar. From there you can go to the bazaar of merchants and the bazaar of weavers.
